Cualificación de capacidades turísticas para el desarrollo turístico: un diagnóstico en el cantón Pedro Moncayo, Pichincha – Ecuador

Abstract

Esta investigación analiza las cualificaciones de capacidades turísticas para el desarrollo turístico con base en los lineamientos del Catálogo Nacional de Cualificaciones de la SETEC. Se trata de un estudio mixto que, por medio de fuentes especializadas en cualificación turística, la encuesta y la entrevista semiestructurada se logró: diagnosticar la situación actual de las cualificaciones turísticas en el cantón Pedro Moncayo, provincia de Pichincha; determinar las fortalezas y debilidades en el sector de los prestadores de servicios turísticos; y por último aproximar estrategias que solventen las debilidades encontradas. Los resultados muestran que la falta de: formación especializada en turismo, promoción y publicidad, capacitación turística y el desconocimiento del término cualificación son falencias que debilitan el funcionamiento del sistema turístico del cantón. Se concluye que, la cualificación turística incide directamente en el desarrollo turístico del cantón, determinando que una baja preparación en cualificaciones turísticas, representa un pobre desempeño competitivo en esta área.

This research analyzes the qualifications of tourism skills for tourism development based on the guidelines of the National Qualifications Catalog of SETEC. It is a mixed study that, through specialized sources in tourism qualification like the survey and the semi-structured interview, a diagnose the current situation of tourism qualifications in the canton Pedro Moncayo, province of Pichincha was achieved, as well as the strengths and weaknesses in the sector of tourism service providers; and finally, to approach strategies to solve the weaknesses found. The results show that the lack of: specialized training in tourism, promotion and publicity, tourism training, and the lack of knowledge of the term qualification are shortcomings that weaken the functioning of the canton's tourism system. It is concluded that tourism qualification has a direct impact on the canton's tourism development, establishing that a low preparation in tourism qualifications represents a poor competitive performance in this area.
